Dear friends,

With 2022 just around the corner, we thought it would be good to take a moment to let you know about what’s happening at St Thomas’ next year.

Prayer Meetings
There is always something special about the whole church gathering to praise and petition the Lord. As Spurgeon used to say, “the prayer meeting is the engine room of the church”. We have eight prayer meetings in 2022 to keep it part of our corporate routine. (We will meet for the prayer meetings in the first and sixth weeks of the school term.)

Dates: 2 Feb, 9 Mar, 27 April, 1 June, 20 Jul, 24 Aug, 12 Oct, 16 Nov

Hope Explored
Hope is a new course by Rico Tice and the Christianity Explored team. It’s a three week series showing how the life, death and resurrection of Jesus gives us hope. Why Hope? A few reasons. It’s clear and short. (Only three weeks, compared to Christianity Explored which is seven weeks.) It’s well produced and easy to run. (The talks have been recorded and there are discussion guides for group leaders). We would love to see this part of our regular ministry at St Ts. Do be praying for people to bring along.

If you would like to be involved in helping with Hope (either as a group member or leader or even as an entire DG), please let me know. We are planning to run Hope once a quarter, starting in the second week of the term, after the prayer meeting. For more details please visit the church website, or you can see a preview of week 1 here.

Dates: 9 Feb, 4 May, 27 July, 19 Oct

Home Houseparty 2022
We would love to get together as a whole church early in the year. Let’s keep these dates free for a great weekend of talks, church wide fellowship and some Saturday night fun! If you would like to be involved please let me know. More details to come in the new year.

Dates: 20-22 May

5pm Weekend Away
We have booked the new Cru site at Lake Macquarie on the central coast for the 5pm Weekend Away. This will be a great time for those at the 5pm service to deepen their relationship with the Lord and with each other. If you would like to be involved in planning this, we would love to hear from you.

Dates: 19-21 Aug

Christmas
Christmas is a great time to connect with our local North Sydney community. We are planning to have our Community Party on 11 December and another Christmas service on the 18 December in the lead up to Christmas. More details to come in the New Year.

Dates: 11 & 18 Dec

Please do take a moment to pop these dates in the diary. You can view a more detailed program here.

After two years of cancelled events because of Covid-19, we say with James “if the Lord wills” (James 4:15).

May the Lord be pleased to strengthen us and use us for His glory in 2022.

Together in Christ,
Luke Shooter
