This weekend and the coming week is the launch of our year together as St Thomas’ with many of our regular ministries starting up again.
Kid’s Church this Sunday (30 January), Lights & Jaffa next Friday (4 February)
Our children’s leaders return and the term time programme of Kid’s Church teaching begins this Sunday 30 January.
Paul Dudley has started on the staff now and has taken charge of the work. I’m full of thanks to God for bringing him to us and for this exciting new phase of children’s ministry.
Lights and Jaffa also begin this coming Friday 4 February.
Prayer Meeting – Wednesday 2 February, 7:30pm-9pm
I am sorry that we haven’t given more notice to you for this but we have our first prayer meeting of the year next Wednesday starting at 7:30pm (note the slightly earlier time than in the past).
It would be terrific to have as many of us as are able to come to bring our needs before the Lord and be praying for him to use us in this coming year to bring his news of salvation to our community and beyond.
John’s Gospel Preaching Series – Sunday 6 February
We are privileged to have Chase Kuhn preaching for us on Psalm 145 this Sunday at all three services, bringing our ‘Songs of the King’ series to a close.
From the following Sunday, 6 February, we begin a new 10-week series listening to John chapters 1-4 which will bring us to Easter. I’m excited about getting into this magnificent gospel and the opportunities we have to share it with others in time using the Word 1-2-1 materials which you may want to begin to check out here.
Discipleship Groups – week commencing Monday 7 February
Our Discipleship Group leaders, children’s and youth leaders have a training day tomorrow morning (Saturday 29 January) in preparation for the year ahead.
Discipleship Groups themselves then begin in the week commencing Monday 7 February.
If you are not yet in a group or are unsure about anything to do with Discipleship Groups please contact Luke Shooter who is in charge of all the Discipleship Group ministries across St Thomas’ this year.
Hope Explored – Wednesday 9 February, 7:30pm-9pm
This is a 3-week series looking at the life, death and resurrection of Jesus in Luke’s Gospel. It starts on Wednesday 9 February at church and happens at the same time as the Central Discipleship Groups.
It is an exciting time of the year. Please join me in praying that the Lord would make his abundant goodness known to us and strengthen us to bring glory to Jesus through all we are seeking to do together.
