John and Fiona

John and Fiona first went in South Asia in 2007, where they met. Born in New Zealand, John grew up in Southeast Asia as a third culture kid, while Fiona grew up in Sydney. John and Fiona returned to Sydney in 2009, got married (at St Thomas’) and studied at SMBC for 3 years. They returned to South Asia in 2012 with two young boys. They now serve as the SIM country leaders in South Asia with a focus on church planting among Muslims. Their boys, Ezekiel and Clay, enjoy soccer, rickshaws, and roti breakfasts in South Asia.

John and Fiona are in South Asia serving the SIM Team in a leadership role (as Country Director). This is a complex role that requires leadership for the 40+ SIM members and associates on the team and oversight of the 80+ national staff. The team has a clear vision of establishing healthy churches among the majority people and are accomplishing this through a variety of means. Both Fiona and John will also be involved in teaching and discipleship of church leaders.

About SIM Australia

Convinced that everyone needs to hear the Gospel, the heart of SIM is to make disciples of Jesus in communities where He is least known. They partner with local Australian churches in equipping and sending out cross-cultural gospel workers, with a variety of skills and talents, to serve in a diverse range of ministries.

They also seek to demonstrate Jesus' love and compassion to the vulnerable by offering holistic care through their aid and development arm, SIMaid. They are part of a global organisation that has 4,000 workers in 70 countires. In dependence on God, they engage people in praying and supporting workers and ministry activities around the world.
